http://newsblaze.com - AlexOm Productions' artist and world music songstress Omega Bugembe Okello returned to her homeland, Uganda, to perform a benefit concert on Aug. 29th. The concert raised funds that will specifically support Mulago Hospital's maternity ward (the nations only referral hospital) with the intention of helping decrease the high maternal mortality rates.

http://www.monitor.co.ug - Yaye (mourning) could easily have been the cry of expectant mothers at Mulago Hospital, whose situation at the bottom of the healthcare ladder has them competing for the few surgical beds and anaesthetic machines; which is why Omega was fundraising for more. The cautionary words on Ndituusa Wa (how long) cannot be ignored in light of the iniquity the world seems to be bathed in while the marimba-tinged Zibasanze (woe) is stern in warning to those that feather their own nests at the expense of other people’s welfare.

When I was young, I met a female doctor who was also a singer and I actually thought one day I would be like her, but I didn’t end up in medical school though I ended up doing my premedicine and majored in biology. I later took a year working in a hospital and that’s when I discovered that there are a lot of inadequacies in the health system even in the US.

http://www.newvision.co.ug - There is an innocence and sweetness that comes out of Omega which, added to her voice, can be quite enchanting. And by the time the concert came to an end two hours after it began, the people in attendance declared themselves truly enchanted.

Omega Bugembe Okello, born in 1979, has crept up with a jazz music concert to fundraise for the hospital so that it can acquire surgical beds in the maternity ward. Life to Omega is about sharing and giving to people in need. She is a beautiful Biology degree holder. But Omega has decided to use her music - mostly Gospel - to promote Health Advocacy in which she holds a Master’s Degree.
